Status Updates

  • October-December
The City will conduct an annual closed landfill inspection during this period. A report will be prepared documenting the site conditions. The latest report should be available for download in the Attachments/Reports section of this website.
  • September 2011
Landfill gas monitoring was discontinued at Mission landfill. During construction of the new Starr Pass and Mission landfill in 2011 the remaining construction debris and waste in Mission landfill was moved next to Starr Pass overpass and capped. There are no receptors within 2500 feet of that area so landfill gas monitoring was discontinued.
  • March 2011
The City completed the Comprehensive Landfill Investigation and Closed Landfill Inspection reports. The Mission landfill is discussed in both of these reports. These reports are available in the report/attachment section of this website.
  • 1995-1998
The City installed two shallow landfill gas monitor probes to monitor methane concentrations between the landfill and nearby businesses and began routine monitoring.
